now exactly nine years ago (it has rained, my God) I first came to Murmansk. We were prepared, as it were, the landing mission in these latitudes and wanted to know who we have to take the first steps. So I wrote a small NUNC review for our magazine, the newsletter of the Congregation Claretian, which you can read in this blog.
Now, 9 years later, the reality has changed, but the enthusiasm remains Easter. He returned to revive the enthusiasm of the early days searching Catholics among Lithuanians in the city and other contacts that we had been informed. Hours on the phone getting the most varied responses. Most Catholics potgencialmente or passing of religion, or had been Orthodox, as a result of "proselytizing" of marriage. In the end, in the Easter celebrations were four charges. No exaggeration. exactly four, not counting the 5 that had come to St. Petersburg.
afinazada community today and grow from day to day running to the church with two priests living permanently here, the reality of the Catholic presence in Murmansk is a joyful reality.
These days I'm thinking with the parish community which means the experience of Easter, from its beginnings to the present day Old Testament. The experience of the Exodus for Israel is self-awareness of their own existence as a people. They exist because God freed them from escalvitud and made people feel free to live for Him Throughout history, the annual celebration of Easter, reliving the liberation, the passage by sea, the sacrifice of the lamb, bagels, helped them to never lose the North, even in the most terrible and tragic history. Exegetes say that each generation of sons of Abraham, the true children of Israel scattered throughout the land, you can add your own experiences to those of Israel and only in this way will really Easter Easter.
When I see the faces of our babushkas, our good people, children, Fr Or John P. Jaszek, I see the Easter story of this community written in their eyes. They really know what it means to pass from death to life as a community, which means trying to get rid of the old leaven of old wounds, death in the form of disappointment, dependencies, family breakdown or deception. Each meeting these days is being a pair my encounter with the Word in their lives and existential exegesis.
The revived memories of years past and the glory of God's hand is the keystone of pfresente with difficulties of all kinds and the opening to continue to see how the spirit continues to lead to true freedom and awareness of being part of a people saved and chosen to sing the praises "of us out of darkness and brought us into his wonderful light" () Perhaps as anywhere in the world these words have their natural place in Murmansk and find your key understanding.
Thank you, brothers of Murmansk, for helping to keep the north of Easter. Thank you for your testimony simple and sublime constacia and delivery. Breaks out, really, Easter in the snowy north and become new era dawning in the hearts of believers who confess their faith in Christ.
